Livelihood Enhancement through Skill Development:
The youth comprises over one-third of the Indian population which in turn constitutes a major part of the labour force of the country. The number of underprivileged youth in India who lacks education and proper guidance is humungous
possess the right skills and attitude. It is crucial for the energy of the underprivileged youth to be channelized properly with proper direction and learning to aid in their economic growth and make them contribute to nation building.
Problems that we face in youths for skill development
- Key skill gaps and shortage of quality workers are observed at the minimally skilled and semi-skilled levels
- Inadequate skill sets available
- Inadequate project management skills
- Inadequate orientation to develop and adhere to safety norms at construction site
- Inadequate work ethics
- Casual in work, absenteeism, unwillingness to work, etc. are observe
Action taken by Skillitude for Livelihood Enhancement through Skill Development Skillitude has been running vocational skill development programs since 2019 to bridge this gap. It has covered a wide gamut of learning for youth. From Basic Computer and English to Healthcare, Retail, Beauty & Wellness, Tourism & Hospitality, Telecom, Electronics, Construction and Apparel. Skillitude has experience of running a wide array of Short Term vocational skill development programs and Up-Skilling and Re-Skilling. Our centres are running immersive, practical oriented courses where hands on learning is the basis. These industry designed courses have wide acceptability among recruiters and also provide skills of basic entrepreneurship to the trainees. Every year hundreds of youths are being churned at these vocational training centres which are capable of generating employability for these underprivileged youth. These are our steps to success.
We make it a point to keep connected with our students at least for two years’ post pass out so that they can be counselled if necessary. This is necessary as not every youth is the same and may not react in the same way to differing and challenging work environments. As friends and guides to them our trainers make it a point to help them adjust individually to their work environment.

We are making our youths technology-proficient with the aid of career-oriented courses which will open wide-array of opportunities for them. Digital literacy has become the need of the hour and these exposures will be of great help to prepare the youths for our technology-aided world and for positions of future leadership.
